Wayne and Judy Bayliff have published holiday gift recommendations in various outlets for the past several years. They usually receive a number of service and product samples each year, test them, and bring forth their buying recommendations in various Annual Gift Guides.
Out of eleven tests this year, they feel comfortable recommending six unique and unusual gift items for your holiday giving consideration. Here’s their 2016 Gift Guide:
Our first recommendation is a clinically proven device that is worn on the wrist like a watch and works in minutes. It is a drug-free treatment for nausea associated with motion sickness.
It works by using the body’s natural neural pathways to block the waves of nausea produced in the stomach.
This is a great gift idea for traveling friends. CityPASS provides discounted ticket booklets to major tourist attractions in major cities in the United States and Toronto, Canada.
Discounts run in the 50% range. We have used this product in several cities, with great satisfaction. For more information, and to select your favorite cities start at their website at http://www.citypass.com
We loved our sample bottle of crisp and refreshing Brut Sparkling Wine from the Franciacorta region of northern Italy.
These wines are the first Italian sparkling wines produced exclusively by the traditional method of refermentation in the same bottle, known in France as the “champagne method.”
We have discovered that delicious Franciacorta wines come in several styles of various levels of sweetness. They can be purchased online from Sherry-Lehmann.com
There are many products on the market that claim to give a natural golden bronze tan — with or without the sun. FakeBake really does! It’s a self-tanning liquid and comes with a professional application mitt.
We also tried their “Sol Survivor,” (love their product names). SPF 30 Sun Block spray, which they recommend for use over their self-tanning products when you actually plan to be in the sun. This product has very little aroma, and the subtle smell it does have is quite nice. This sun-block is a combination of sunscreens and Green Tea, a powerful anti-oxidant.
You can order FakeBake products directly from their website at http://us.fakebake.com
Love British TV
Once again, we found this year’s crop of US TV offerings to be greatly wanting. So instead, we have gone to the Brits who seem to still understand character development and how to create thought provoking plots.
Along with NETFLIX, which provides many quality British (and Australian, New Zealand) mystery series, we also subscribe to Emmy-nominated ACORN TV.
ACORN is a premier streaming service for world-class series’ from our brethren who speak the Queen’s English. They feature classy mystery productions like Foyle’s War, Midsomer Murders, and George Gently. All excellent quality and nary a foul-phrase to spoil the jaunty dialogue.
Here’s a great gift idea that keeps on giving. It’s a global lost property system that is inexpensive, safe, and easy to use. It’s called HomingPIN, and, in a nutshell, here is how it works.
HomingPIN provides stickers that you affix to computers, passports, cell phones, and whatever you don’t want to lose that can be labeled. They also provide key rings, and loops to affix to baggage and purse handles, etc.
If the airlines loses the item, or you do, the stickers or loops have a unique number on them. The numbers are activated by providing your cell phone number(s) and email address to HomingPIN.
It’s good to know, that HomingPIN will never reveal your identity or personal information.
If you have a giftee who tends to lose things, this is the ticket! Check out www.HomingPIN.com for more details on how it works.
So there you have it friends. You can’t go wrong with any of the above goodies for yourself or those on your gift list.
Merry Christmas. Wishing you a wonderful, healthy, and prosperous 2017!
